Colonists

In the 1800’s the Lifaqane Europeans started moving to South Africa. Many missionaries started setting up missions along side different clans. This was the start  of the conflict that was between the Africans and Europeans. The Dutch speaking people known as The Afrikaner people who were of European decent settleted  onto the Free State. Many new ways to live life were introduced to the Basotho tribe by the missionaries. Such as religion, and food.  Though the Afrikaners and the Basotho became friends in the future there were conflicts and wars between the two.

Change from colonists

Today over then 90% of Basotho people call themselves Christians, more specifically Roman Catholic. Some Basotho people claim to have ties to the Lesotho  and  Anglican Evangelical Church Evangelical Church.  This is the work of colonists and missionaries.
